The 25th anniversary Mirseum.

----------

We celebrate our 25 year anniversary this year. As a part of this, we decided to make a Mirseum to showcase our path from the very beginning until today. Scroll down and feast your eyes with some of the very first images we made here at Mir.

1999
At age 20, founders Mats and Trond met at the National Academy of Art and Design. "Why on earth do architects make such poor visualizations of their beautiful projects?" they asked.
2000
Mir is born. The business is financed through student loans and run from a 4 m² office in the evenings after school. The founders quickly gained a lot of weight—thanks to the infamous Coca-Cola and chips diet.
2005
After a few years experimenting with graphic design, furniture visualizations, and even safety videos for ferries, Mir decides to specialize in architectural renderings.
2010
Mir is starting to grow up. The team is becoming more international and the studio is moved to an old warehouse on the docks of Bergen.
2020
Mir starts to focus on projects that have a close relationship to the natural world.
2025
It took years of dreaming and saving, but we finally bought an old metal factory near home, just in time for our 25th anniversary. Now, Mir shares the space with a mix of artists, musicians, and architects.

It starts somewhere around here, with this print from 2000. The job was to render the protective metal parts into a photography of a tree. At the time we didn't know about alpha channels, so we rendered it with a green backdrop and used magic wand tool in photoshop to cut it out.

Perhaps the moment when we realized that this is the kind of project that we should be doing more of. An opportunity to showcase how architects in Norway celebrate our heritage with high quality projects.
