Render vs Reality

November 2025

The field of architectural visualization has always been tangled up with the notion that, at the heart of the profession, lies a genuine dishonesty.
The saying suggests that visualizations misrepresent both intentions and the actual appearance of projects.

From our perspective, the label of dishonesty attached to the profession is deserved. For us, fighting this stigma is important because we are convinced that Mirs contribution to the field, and Mirs perspective, matters. Visualizations feed culture. Culture is the air we breathe.

While we readily admit to Mir having more than a few skeletons in the closet, we are among the few stakeholders in the industry who actively question the narratives that our profession constructs around architecture. The field is riddled with intentional and unintentional lies, which we perhaps see more clearly than those sitting on the other side of the curtain.

At Mir all of us share a core belief in openness and honesty. We also share an affinity for the extraordinary and the awesome—an essential ingredient in much of our work, but also something that occasionally gets us into trouble…

Our images are meant to be a force that reminds people that things can be truly awesome; That life is full of beauty. If this can be achieved through art driven by realistic predictions and mathematical calculations, we can retire happily from the industry…when that day comes.
